For those of you who know me, you might know that I’m working on my first solo album. I’ve done some test recording, got some screaming deals on Craiglist on equipment and have begun tracking the album. This is what the recording studio consists of:
Apogee Duet 2 (purchased new in box on Craigslist for $300!)
RODE NT1-a condenser mic for vocals (purchased for $100 off CL)
Shure Beta 87a live vocal condenser (this one I got new and it’s great)
I don’t have pics but for my instrument mic’ing I’m using a Sennheiser e845. I know it’s generally a vocal mic, but whatever 😛
I’m using the AKAI Max49 that I’ve had for about a year or so for my MIDI Controller.
My DAW is Logic 9. So far I dig it.
I made a makeshift vocal booth using this room-partition-thing that Mario used for vocals on the Tigertronic EP. It seemed to work fine so I’m gonna try it again. Here are a couple of pics of the full setup. I don’t have my drums back from Oscar yet, but those’ll go somewhere there.
If you’re interested, I did a test recording of the RODE vocal mic. I mic’d the guitar with the Beta 87a just to see what it would sound like. I like it, I might just try it for a full song.
